QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

Bachelor’s degree. 5 years’ experience in developing and implementing behavioral support and risk reduction strategies/plans and coordinating/administering services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Demonstrated, successful experience specifically with children and families in the application of behavioral intervention. Experience providing direct behavioral intervention with children on the Autism Spectrum. Knowledge of behavior intervention techniques, impact of environments on behaviors, and sensory integration and relaxation techniques; ability to apply this knowledge in providing behavior intervention services. Knowledge of community resources.

Possess a high level of detail orientation. Excellent mastery of language. Strong writing skills. Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.

Proficiency with computer, phone and other related technology. Proficiency with Windows-based operating environment; Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word; and using the internet.

Must demonstrate the willingness and ability to follow detailed instructions, procedures, processes, and protocols.

Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and an insured personal vehicle for use while on agency business. Must have a good driving record.

Must have a history of satisfactory job performance. Must have a record of reliable work attendance.

Preferred:

Master’s degree. Prior supervisory experience. Experience administering DODD Waivers. Proficiency with use of assistive technology for sensory input.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise SSA staff, as assigned. Assign cases/activities to SSAs in consultation with Director of SSA. May function as the primary SSA for designated individuals.

Ensure that behavior support provisions developed by SSA Department staff are consistent with DODD expectations and accreditation standards. Support and educate SSAs that are responsible for coordinating /writing behavior support provisions by regularly communicating related expectations through individual consultation and behavior team meetings. Perform oversight of the development of restrictive measures.

Field inquiries and service requests made on behalf of eligible individuals for behavior support services, assign behavior related cases, and coordinate efforts to link eligible individuals with resource information related to behavior supports.

Be knowledgeable of, complete referrals for, participate in and provide leadership on the follow up recommended as a result of technical assistance programs for addressing damaging behaviors of youth and adults.

Accountable to assure that all prescribed steps are followed with regard to Person-Centered Individual Service Plan (ISP) development and monitoring; HCBS Waiver enrollment, redetermination and discharge; and service coordination. Track SSA responsibilities and deadlines including, but not limited to, activities associated with the development and monitoring of Individual Service Plans (ISPs), and review/follow-up on Unusual Incidents (UIs).

Arrange for ongoing technical assistance to assure that SSA staff and providers comply with local, state and federal requirements. Arrange for ongoing technical support to assure that providers have the necessary tools to meet the needs of eligible individuals in Lorain County.
