(DSP) Lifeguard

LIFEGUARD

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

High school diploma or GED. Must have a valid Lifeguard Certificate (YMCA, Red Cross, etc.) Must have or be able to obtain an ODE Educational Aide permit by the State of Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Must continue professional growth and certification. Must be able to use Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and an insured personal vehicle for use while on agency business. Must have a good driving record. Must have a record of reliable work attendance. Must have a history of satisfactory job performance.

Must be able to meet all requirements and obtain all certificates required to perform the job or any aspect of the job, and to access funding for performance of any aspect of the job.

Preferred:

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Experience in developing and implementing recreational activities.

Experience working with children and providing direct personal care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist students in preparing to swim prior to and after swim class (changing, showering if needed, etc.)

Monitor students while in pool.

Monitor and document any goals/objectives pertinent to students, when requested.

Perform School Aide job duties including, but not limited to, delegated nursing, as scheduled/assigned.

Assure health and safety by performing certified lifeguard duties. Use proper transferring and positioning techniques. Maintain a safe and clean environment.

Assist in maintaining a safe pool environment by adhering to, and adjusting to changes in rules and regulations as directed by school administration and/or Public Health, as necessary.

Maintain a healthy environment by assuring proper chemical levels in pool and cleaning/vacuuming pool.

Provide assistance and supervision of lunch room if needed and/or scheduled.

Meet with school supervisors, staff, parents and member of the public when requested. Foster positive public relations by attending open houses, conferences and all other meetings as assigned.

HOURS:

School day schedule, Monday-Friday, except on meeting night plus one additional meeting per month as assigned. Follow Board-approved Murray Ridge School calendar. Flexible as needed.
