ADULT PROGRAM AIDE

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

High school diploma or GED. Must be able to transfer/lift adult consumers from a wheelchair to toilet, changing table or other surface.

Must be able to create and save documents and send them via email. Ability to use the intranet and internet.

Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and an insured personal vehicle for use while on agency business. Must have a good driving record. Must have a record of reliable work attendance. Must have a history of satisfactory job performance. Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.

Must be able to meet all requirements and obtain all certificates required to perform the job or any aspect of the job, and to access funding for performance of any aspect of the job.

Preferred:

Work experience in the provision of direct care. Demonstrated ability to communicate with individuals with a variety of developmental disabilities. Demonstrated record of maximizing interaction and discussion with individuals served when working with people with disabilities. Experience in transportation of individuals with disabilities. Demonstrated record of positive and professional communication with individuals with developmental disabilities, coworkers and the public. Ability to use an iPad. Education/training beyond high school, especially in the field of DD.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide direct care i.e., toileting, feeding, transporting, positioning, etc.

Provide delegated nursing services, as assigned.

Implement individualized strategies designed for consumers to achieve outcomes identified in their individual plans.

Implement behavior support strategies identified in individual plans. Maximize ongoing interactions and discussion with individuals served.

Assist consumers in a wide variety of community settings. Drive consumers to community destinations.

Document services provided.

Assist with loading and unloading consumers from buses, and escorting them, as needed, within the Opportunity/Vocational Center and/or other community locations.

Perform cleaning tasks as required.

HOURS:

8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Flexible as needed to meet the needs/desires of individuals served.

SALARY:

Level 2

PROBATION:

Initial – 280 calendar days; Non-initial – 90 calendar days
